COHSLA Fall Business Meeting

Call to order:                          President Julie McDaniel called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m.

 

Minutes:                                 Minutes from the March 31, 2003 spring business meeting were not available for review.

 

Treasurer’s Report:               Becky Mehling reported a balance of $884.85.

 

Coordinator Reports

Continuing Education:            Lisa Blackwell suggested querying the COHSLA list to determine if members are interested in attending NCBI training on the genomic databases as part of the COHSLA spring 2004 meeting.  Lisa Blackwell and Lynda Hartel volunteered to query the list to determine interest.

 

Listserv:                                 No report

 

Networking:                            Sandy Wicker volunteered to handle networking duties for Susi Miller when she takes maternity leave in 2004.

 

A suggestion was made to change the location of the monthly luncheon from Ashley’s to another location because of construction on and around the OSU campus.  Jo Yeoh suggested the Riverside Hospital cafeteria, Fern Cheek suggested returning to the Fawcett Center, and Sarah Murphy suggested the Blackwell.  No action was taken.

 

Web Page:                              Lynda Hartel reported that the COHSLA web site will have a new web address. No date was available as to when this change will take place.

 

Committee Reports

Award Committee:                 Stacy Gall agreed to chair the Award Committee for 2004.  Stacy read a thank you note she had received from Joyce Tallman, winner of the 2003 Scholarship Award.

 

Nominating Committee:         Sarah Murphy will chair the Nominating Committee in 2004.  Sarah encouraged COHSLA members interested in running for an office to contact her.

 

Old Business:                         Stacy Gall announced that the video of the HIPAA teleconference broadcast earlier this year is available for borrowing.

 

New Business:                        Jo Yeoh, on behalf of COHSLA, volunteered to purchase Café Courier gift certificates for Barb VanBrimmer, a member of COHSLA and

former COHSLA president who is ill.  Becky Mehling, Treasurer, will send Jo a check to cover the cost of the gift certificates.

 

Announcements:                    Lynda Hartel provided information about the Frankenstein exhibit and related activities. The exhibit opens September 25 in the Medical Heritage Center in the Prior Health Sciences Library.

 

Lynda shared information about the Center for Knowledge Management open house scheduled for October 1, 2003 in the Prior Health Sciences Library.

 

Lynda Hartel announced that Susan Kroll has been appointed Associate Vice-President for the Health Sciences Center for Knowledge Management at OSU.

 

Lynda also shared that Sarah Murphy will have an article published in the upcoming issue of the Journal of the Medical Library Association.
